Advancing the Biologic Science of Hair Beauty & Health
Apex is a startup cosmeceutical company founded by a medical doctor, Nedaa Al Jasim, MD, conducting research on the biology of curly hair follicle and invented the first ingestible cosmeceutical curly hair relaxing product.

Our product CurlRelax gel caps is the first-in-class herbal formulation for oral administration. It is science-backed with a novel mechanism of action, working from within.

CurlRelax is a patent-pending invention and will be marketed as an over-the-counter product.

Bridging the Gap in Research &
Product Development
In today’s fast-paced beauty market, innovation is critical. However, curly hair relaxing treatment continue to use decades-old chemical products. We moved forward, cross lines, and innovate in this complex biologic field and gaining insights!

Apex product offering is revolutionizing curly hair relaxing market by advancing hair cosmetic science on multiple fronts:
1- moving hair relaxation from the fiber to the hair follicle;
2- replacing topical application by ingestible treatment acting from within;
3- replacing harsh chemicals by a safe herbal composition.

We aspire to make millions of customers look at their best through collaboration with mentors and partners.

Prior Research Outcomes
does't impact Curly Hair Treatment
Curly hair includes a wide range of fiber shapes, but what biology is at play? The hair follicle is a fascinating miniorgan consisting of multiple concentric layers that molds the young hair fiber and set its shape. The fiber thus be considered as a shape memory material. Published research describe the curly hair follicle as being curved in the shape of a golf club, with the outer root sheath being dissymmetrical with evidence of mechanical stress. The source of this mechanical stress is yet obscure and very little is known about the follicle substructure is related to this physiological phenomenon!
Other studies on the hair fiber mechanics and human genetics were conducted. But unfortunately, all the prior research efforts has no positive influence on changing the curly hair treatment options.

We’re Writing a New Chapter in the Biology of Curly Hair
Apex Novel "Contracted Arrector Pili" Hypothesis
We are working on figuring out a new biologic mechanism that determines hair types by linking the Arrector Pili muscle with hair follicle curving!
We hypothesize that the source of mechanical stress is a persistent contraction of the Arrector Pili muscle of the hair follicle.
How does that work? The Arrector Pili is a “multi-unit” smooth muscle, wherein each muscle fiber contracts on its own. The Arrector Pili originates from one side of the outer root sheath and attaches to the dermal-epidermal junction. The Arrector Pili contraction results in dissymmetrical outer root sheath generating a curvy mold with a wide range of possible patterns from wavy, curly and coily. Moreover, the muscle contraction will impair the hair follicle nutrition and impair the sebum secretion.
From Science to Product
Our “contracted Arrector Pili” hypothesis has treatment implications that is proposed to tackle the root cause of curly hair. Relaxing the Arrector Pili muscle will relax the follicle; improve nourishment and facilitate sebum secretion.
We are setting the foundation of a new field of study and will support our product with scientific publications.

Confirmatory computer-assisted (AI) studies of the interaction between the Arrector Pili cells and the active ingredients of CurlRelax will provide support for this novel mechanism of action.

What is Our Secret Sauce?
Apex invented a process to produce the uni-sourced herbal emulsion formulation of HairRelax.
Our 3-steps manufacturing process is characterized by:
-
One selected herb as a source of all the required ingredients, i.e., one-for-all;
-
One green solvent is added to the water phase; and
-
Unique extraction kinetics, wherein the oil is extracted drop-by-drop and is simultaneously emulsified.
